The Latin America Caribbean Liaison Committee (LACLC)

(established 2011)
Chair: Professor Santiago Guijarro Oporto, Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome

The Latin American Caribbean Liaison Committee held its Preconference in Durham in July 2026, on the occasion of the SNTS general meeting. The gathering brought together 18 participants — both members and non-members of the Society — including 13 scholars from Latin America.

Latin American Caribbean Preconference (Durham, July 2026)

Ten papers were presented, all of them works in progress toward future publication. This marked a departure from previous Preconferences, which had typically been organized around a single shared theme.

Participants responded positively to this new format, valuing the opportunity to present ongoing research rather than papers written to fit a predetermined topic. The constructive atmosphere of the discussions was likewise highlighted as a strength of the meeting.
